TUI cruises are a relatively new company. This shouldn't put you off choosing one of their products though. After all, the company has to have cruise history in order to secure the money necessary to create an investment in their services. Indeed, the fact is that TUI cruises are a joint venture between a German tourist firm TUI AG and one of the most famous in cruising worldwide: Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.
The company, since it is a German tourist agency, primarily serves the German market. So while you may be able to find a cheap deal on TUI cruises who must remember that it is likely that it is mainly German that is spoken on the boats. Also remember that the set-up of the boat will be slightly different in order to appeal to German tastes. Food, the various entertainment offerings, and amenities will be geared towards more of a German culture than that of the usual American glitz and glamour, or the British cruise-style type of the floating country house.
TUI cruises didn't have the ability to build a new ship so when it began operating a cruise-liner it instead went for the path that was most likely to guarantee success, buy acquiring an older cruise ship. They first brought the ship Celebrity Galaxy, which was owned by the Celebrity cruise line, which is actually a distant cousin of TUI cruises as both have Royal Caribbean cruise line as a parent company or partner company. But don't think that just buying up an old ship is a really cheap way for a company to make a cut price holiday on an old ship. Now, TUI cruises bought the ship because it was fairly modern and because it ran well.
But there was a lot of work that needed to be done. This included an upgrade of the ships facilities in order to better suit the German market an upgrade that cost the company a huge €50 million. The German cruise industry is currently thriving and TUI cruises seek to expand that market even further, hoping to offer an additional service for those with families and for those who are travelling as a couple.
Thus far there are not so many options for these sort of people, while there are many options for singles. This is especially true in the German market where there is a big gap for a modest and quite small cruise-line to take advantage and profit.
