Holland America cruises

Holland America cruises are another one of those cruise liners than have been operating as a shipping company for longer than 100 years. They began life as a shipping company that took passengers from Rotterdam to New York. They then began increasing the number of different destination that they took their passengers to, including locations as exotic as South America, and a little less special, but just as far from Rotterdam, to Baltimore.

It is from these humble beginnings that Holland America cruises began. It has operated vacation cruises across three centuries: beginning in the nineteenth century, and continuing to do cruises today under the Carnival Corporation, which is actually the largest cruise line in the world, and has taken all of Holland America's ships, taking them to seven continents. Holland America cruises are well known for their value, regularly winning awards through this category. They also travel very widely, taking their passengers on only 15 boats to 250 ports in five-star luxury.

It's things like this and the uniformed and friendly staff that has made Holland America cruises one of the cruise liners that experiences a very high proportion of returning guests. This is not something that happens by accident, of course. Holland America cruises have the slogan of "A signature of excellence" to push that point even harder. Holland America operate the regular sort of cruises to places like Bermuda, the Caribbean, Alaska, and New Zeland.

But what separates Holland America cruises is how they also operate cruises to much more exotic places such as up the Amazon river, down to Antarctica the first cruise line to do so and on extended Grand Voyages where you can be sure to visit dozens of cultures and different time zones. Being able to do it all one single cruise ship is of course a big bonus for those who detest airport security and would prefer to ensure that they simply get to their destinations with efficiency and comfort rather than just speed. After all, cruising is not just about getting to the destination, but about enjoying the whole journey there at the same time.

They also work hard to attempt to reduce the environment damage of cruise ships, and they work to give back to communities of the world through a variety of on-deck activities, such as the On Deck for the Cure walks which have raised more than one million dollars.
