Zack Snyder Reveals New Superman Cast

Henry Cavill is Superman and Amy Adams is the new Louis Lane, according to Zack Snyder ahead of his upcoming Superman movie.

Amy Adams, star of The Fighter, landed the coveted role after a lengthy selection process, according to Snyder. "There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

She will be Henry Cavill’s love interest in the movie. She is also headlining this year’s The Muppets movie, and may star alongside Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin in Rock of Ages. Already picked for Snyder’s Superman are Kevin Costner, who will play Pa Kent, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Snyder is being secretive about the plot, but he did mention that Louis Lane would be an important character in the story, and would help make Cavill’s character more “relevant”. “She has to be in the same universe as him.”

Cavill beat Jon Hamm, Armie Hammer, Matthew Goode and several others to the role. Snyder has been adamant that his movie would not be a sequel. “Literally, the one thing that everyone can start to think about is that we're making a movie that finally goes with the approach that there's been no other Superman movies," he said. The film is due out in theatres this December.
