As Easter is fast approaching, many boys and girls are looking forward to a visit from the Easter Bunny, leaving delicious Easter Eggs behind. Although at one Seattle Public School, two words cannot be mentioned - Easter Eggs. Instead they are to be called “Spring Spheres” in a new wave of political correctness.

16-year-old Jessica has told her story to KIRO Radio’s Dori Monson Show, causing another public uproar.

Jessica volunteered in a third grade classroom when she heard about the change in the Easter treat’s name. “At the end of the week I had an idea to fill in little plastic eggs with treats and jelly beans and other candy, but I was kind of unsure how the teacher would feel about that”, Jessica told the Radio Station.

She approached a teacher for approval, although discovered that when doing her kind task, she was to call them “Spring Spheres” rather than “Easter Eggs”.

However the plan to call the Easter treats Spring Spheres was well received by the children who were delighted in their Easter Eggs.

The Easter Egg is widely given in celebration of Easter, used as a pagan symbol of the rebirth of the Earth, while throughout history the gift would have been dried or painted chicken eggs, the modern twist has turned it into a slightly more edible creation such as chocolate or plastic eggs filled with sweets.

While Easter isn’t celebrated by the world at large, many enjoy the religious celebration after giving up their favorite treats for lent.
