Manly Beach is definitely not the place to come if you are looking for a little peace and quiet. Sydney natives, groups of school children, and visitors coming from all over the globe flock to this 1¬ mile strip of snow-like sand to take advantage of its powerful waves, ride boards and swim. Locker rooms, changing rooms and toilet facilities are everywhere. The promenade stretch along the beach between the Norfolk Island pines offers a great spot for people-watching and a perfect strip to go roller blading. There are plenty of caf‚s, ice cream parlors and souvenir shops as well as a nearby shopping area, called the Corso. Manly is surrounded by crystalline water on three sides and for beach lovers it is an ideal spot, as its conditions make it perfect for surfing and swimming, with smooth sands for a great game of beach volleyball. Surfers tend to believe that the waves at Manly Beach are heavenly blessed.
At the end of a colorful row of beaches which wind north from Sydney, you will find Palm Beach. The sands are white and stretch way out. You can find good surfing here and a golf course as well.
